The Astrophotography of Michael J. Mangieri

All photos are imaged from the light polluted skies of Reisterstown, MD. But with the miracle of new digital camera technologies and advanced software, fantastic results are possible even from less than ideal locations. These photos are unique in that they are taken with amateur equipment, by an amateur astrophotographer.

I have been an amateur astronomer since my early days in grade school way back in the 60’s. In the late 80’s through the 90’s work and graduate school occupied much of my time. I was also composing new age synthesizer music, completing a CD in 1995, updated in 2000 and then another in 2010. In 2000 I became very involved with amateur high power rocketry, designing and launching various rockets in association with MDRA, the premier independent rocketry association in MD. Then, with all the talk of Comet ISON I got back into astronomy with a passion. Purchased an Celestron EdgeHD 1100 and started with digital astrophotography.

The button below will take you to my print provider. Please note you will need to create an account and login so that I can process your order. From there you can select the type of print you would like and the dimensions of that print. You can select from a variety of styles from Canvas, Metal and regular photo print. The metal print is highly recommended as it produces a stunning, glossy print with a recessed wall mounted frame. When ordering metal prints choose glossy white. Of course, seeing these in person would really show the quality of these prints, but that is obviously not possible when ordering online. But I am sure you will be pleased with the product.

However, not all photos have the same resolution and so it is very important that you pay attention to the quality meter when selecting your print size. I would strongly recommend that you do not order a print size if the quality meter drops below the mid point between Good and Excellent. We cannot be responsible for poor image quality resulting from inadequate resolution based on size of requested print. Please know that digital files do not have a wide latitude for adjustment. In addition, please preview your images to ensure that all customizable features are to your liking before placing your order. All sales are final and we cannot provide refunds for prints once they have been delivered. Defects in the printing process, or mounting, is covered and you can contact us at sales@mdfiberarts.com for details on how to request a re-print or for any questions.
